Relaunch of the Sydney Feminist History Group
The Sydney Feminist History Group was established in the early 2000s by Alison Bashford, Rae Frances, Penny Russell, and Angela Woollacott. It is with great pleasure that AWHN shares the news that SFHG has recently been relaunched, with an exciting schedule of speakers organised for 2026.
All seminars will be held in Room 503/504 UNSW CBD Campus (George St). Please arrive at 5.45pm for a 6pm start. All welcome!
3 September: Professor Sharon Crozier-De Rosa (University of Wollongong), ‘The Future of Our Past: Women’s History as a Human Right’
1 October: Professor Michelle Arrow (Macquarie University), ‘Turn on the Lights or Use Your Vote for Women’s Rights? Gender in Australia’s 1975 Federal Election’
5 November: Dr Bridget Brooklyn (Western Sydney University), ‘Women of Action: Australian Conservative Feminists, 1901-1970’
10 December: Professor Alison Downham-Moore (Western Sydney University), ‘The Role of Historical Inquiry in Australian Feminist Studies’
Seminars will be followed by dinner at a nearby restaurant, with attendees responsible for their dining expenses. If you wish to attend the dinner, please RSVP to Zoe or Taylah at least one week prior to the seminar.
